England suffered their first consecutive losses in ten years, falling 31‑22 to Canada in the WXV Global Series.
Maddie Feaunti opened the scoring for the Red Roses with a try in the first ten minutes, which Zoe Harrison successfully converted.
However, they could not exact revenge for the 24‑21 loss in Toronto the previous week, ending a four‑year unbeaten streak.
England overcame a halftime deficit, briefly seizing a 17‑12 lead after the break.
Amy Cokayne, who had missed three home games earlier in the month due to a calf injury, contributed a try in her return against Canada.
Nevertheless, Canada swiftly reclaimed the lead, extending it to 31‑17, as captain Sophie de Goede completed a hat‑trick to pull ahead.
Emma Sing scored a try for England in the dying moments, narrowing the gap, though it proved insufficient.
De Goede capped her strong performance with three conversions, while Harrison contributed the match’s sole penalty goal in the 42nd minute.
England conclude their WXV Global Series campaign with a match against the United States in New Jersey on Friday.
