Manchester United and Everton are reportedly in preliminary discussions regarding a potential transfer for Marcus Rashford ahead of the January window.

According to Football Transfers, the negotiations are at an early stage, and it remains unclear whether the clubs will pursue a loan arrangement or a permanent transfer.

Rashford appeared destined to depart Old Trafford in the summer following a loan spell at Barcelona, yet a permanent move failed to materialize. He has since been reintegrated into the Manchester United first team under Michael Carrick.

The England international impressed during his season-long stint in Catalonia, raising questions as to why Barcelona declined the option to sign him outright.

While some supporters welcomed Rashford’s return after he rediscovered form following a difficult period under previous manager Ruben Amorim, the 28-year-old has struggled to secure a regular starting berth under Carrick and has made limited impact when featured.

Consequently, a move away appears logical for United, with Everton emerging as a viable destination. Despite no longer being at his absolute peak, Rashford performed well at Barcelona and earned a place in England’s World Cup squad over the summer.

There is undoubtedly quality remaining, and Everton manager David Moyes could prove the ideal figure to revitalize his career, much like he has aided Jack Grealish’s resurgence after a challenging spell at Manchester City.
