Who Was Responsible for the Death of Eddie’s Wife Bella in The Gentlemen Season 2?

In the finale, it is revealed that Bella (Benedetta Porcaroli) was murdered by Eddie’s brother, Freddy (Daniel Ings), and John ‘The Gospel’ Dixon (Pearce Quigley).

Regarding their motivations, John blames Eddie for the murder of his own brother, Tommy (Peter Serafinowicz), during the first season. Meanwhile, Freddy harbors resentment toward his brother after their father excluded him from the will, thereby designating Eddie as the sole heir.

The pair murdered Bella by rigging an aircraft to detonate at a specific altitude, intending to eliminate both Eddie and Bella—though only the latter was aboard.

Subsequently, they orchestrated an assault on Halstead Manor to kill Eddie and neutralize any threats to Freddy’s claim, though this plan ultimately faltered as everyone survived.

Who Meets Their End in the Season 2 Finale?

Upon discovering that Freddy and John murdered his wife, Eddie orchestrates a ruse to lure John into a meeting with the assistance of Carlos Vargas (Cosimo Fusco), subsequently kidnapping him.

Eddie then confronts Freddy outside his rehabilitation facility. This escalates into a violent brawl on the field, culminating in Eddie pointing a gun at his brother. Though Eddie spares Freddy, the latter mutters, “someone’s got to die.” At that moment, a van arrives, containing a restrained John in the back alongside one of Susie’s (Kaya Scodelario) men, who wields a chainsaw.

Freddy is forced into the back of the van and the door is sealed shut. We hear the chainsaw rev up followed by muffled screams. Moments later, Freddy emerges from the van in a frenzied state, clutching John’s severed head. The episode’s final shot depicts Freddy screaming into the distance, drenched in blood.

This serves to reinforce the season’s overarching themes of forgiveness and vengeance, as Eddie navigates both by sparing one antagonist while ruthlessly murdering the other.
