Former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston has announced a new moniker following his departure from the company.
In May, Kingston and his New Day partner Xavier Woods exited WWE after rejecting a revised contract that included a pay reduction.
Industry observers expect both wrestlers to sign with AEW, potentially making a high‑profile debut at the upcoming AEW All‑In London event at Wembley Stadium.
Xavier Woods is anticipated to revert to the ring name Austin Creed, which he previously used before joining WWE and continued to employ during his YouTube presence. However, the name Kofi Kingston will adopt remains uncertain.
Kingston’s legal name is Kofi Sarkodie‑Mensah, a lengthy surname that may be impractical for a wrestling persona. Recent promotional material for his post‑WWE appearances lists him simply as “Kofi.”
Recognizing the challenge of his full name, Kingston has filed trademarks for both his legal name and the initials “KSM,” which could serve as a more concise ring name.
The trademark applications cover a range of entertainment services, including wrestling exhibitions, televised and live appearances, and merchandise such as apparel and accessories.
On the same day, Austin Creed was also trademarked by Xavier Woods, suggesting joint plans for the duo. While no specific new tag team name has been filed, a recent social media post by Creed featuring the caption “Daybreak” may hint at a forthcoming partnership name.
Both men have been booked for Chris Jericho’s upcoming November cruise, a further indication of their transition toward AEW.
