Houthi Sources Report at Least 33 Killed in Saudi Air Strikes
Houthi-affiliated media report at least 33 individuals, including women and children, killed in Saudi air strikes.
The Saudi-led coalition has issued no comment regarding the incident.
Al Masirah, a Houthi-operated television station, broadcast live footage showing volunteers extracting bodies from rubble in al-Shariyah, a town east of Sanaa.
The grim footage also reveals young children among those recovered from the collapsed structures.
In addition, the station displayed injured civilians being transported on stretchers to hospitals.
Saba News, another Houthi-run outlet, confirmed that Iran-supported Houthi forces conducted the strike on Saturday, reporting 39 injuries.
This comes as Saudi-led coalition forces continue their long-running campaign against the Houthis, supporting Lebanon’s internationally recognised government.
Although the Yemen conflict had largely subsided, tensions escalated following the broader regional tensions.
A ceasefire deteriorated when Saudi Arabia targeted Sanaa’s airport—controlled by the Houthis—to block an incoming Iranian aircraft.
In response, the Iran-backed Houthis struck Abha International Airport in Saudi Arabia, followed by attacks on cargo ships operating through the Red Sea around Yemen as a substitute export corridor.
Subsequent clashes have reignited major combat operations between the Houthis and pro-government Yemeni forces.
Earlier this week, a market bombing in Taiz province—long contested in recent fighting—surged to a toll of 30 fatalities.
Houthi sources blame Saudi Arabia for the strike, while Yemeni government forces counter-allegations by claiming the Houthis launched a missile at the location.
The UN estimates that over 1,600 people have perished and more than 300,000 have been displaced since the conflict’s resurgence.
Saudi Arabia has conducted repeated airstrikes against Houthi positions, while Yemeni forces have launched missiles targeting Saudi airports and oil infrastructure.
In the hours preceding the al-Shariyah attack, the coalition reported intercepting a missile aimed at Riyadh.
Houthi leader Mahdi al-Mashat has pledged retribution for the recent assaults targeting Yemen.
