Israel Approves International Stabilization Force Deployment to Gaza Under Trump Peace Framework

The ISF, to be staffed by ‘friendly countries’, will operate in areas of the Palestinian enclave that are outside Israel’s military control.

Israel’s government has authorized the deployment of the International Stabilization Force (ISF) to the Gaza Strip, marking a significant step in the implementation of U.S. President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace initiative.

An Israeli official stated on Sunday that the security cabinet had approved the necessary legal frameworks for the force, which will function in coordination with the Israeli military, as reported by the Times of Israel.

The ISF, comprising approximately 200 personnel from countries including Uganda and Morocco, according to Reuters, will be deployed to areas of Gaza not under Israeli military control. However, no specific timeline for deployment has been provided.

The Israeli cabinet has retained authority to approve which nations may contribute forces to the mission.

The deployment follows the rollout of Trump’s peace plan, under which Israel maintains control over the movement of people and goods into Gaza, including humanitarian aid and food supplies, following the conclusion of Israel’s military operations in the territory.

Despite a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel reached in October, the Palestinian Ministry of Health continues to report ongoing casualties, with 1,200 Palestinians killed and 3,888 wounded since the agreement took effect.

The peace framework also establishes an international “Board of Peace” to oversee governance and reconstruction efforts in Gaza, proposes the formation of a National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) as a technocratic governing body, and calls for Hamas to disarm while Israel withdraws from the territory.

Nickolay Mladenov, director-general of the Gaza Board of Peace—which has seen limited participation from Western nations—welcomed the development, stating it represents a crucial element in stabilizing Gaza, advancing demilitarization, and facilitating a transition to effective Palestinian self-governance under the NCAG.

The cabinet’s decision precedes a scheduled visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Washington, D.C. next week.

Currently, Israeli forces occupy roughly 70 percent of the Gaza Strip, where nearly two million Palestinians have been confined to increasingly restricted areas as Israel continues to adjust its territorial boundaries within the enclave.

The ISF will be deployed exclusively to areas outside of Israeli-controlled zones.
