Liam Gallagher responded to reports that “Wonderwall” streams have surged by 50 percent on Spotify in the UK due to the World Cup, saying he’s ready to fly to New York and perform the song on the pitch if England makes the final.
After a fan suggested it was “mandatory” for him to sing “Wonderwall” live if Thomas Tuchel’s side reaches the final, Gallagher replied, “We’ll see, I’m ready.”
The frontman is known for sparking rumors on X/Twitter – from hinting at an Oasis reunion before the band officially re‑formed in 2024 and launched the massive “Live ‘25” tour, to teasing 2027 tour dates and claiming he and Noel were working on a new Oasis album.
In recent days he’s dropped more hints about performing “Wonderwall” at the final, joking after England captain Harry Kane lost his voice: “It’s hard work that singing Harry Kane cmon ENGLAND cmon ‘WONDERWALL’” and promising to “show Harry how it’s done.”
Oasis, the Britpop icons, recently marked one year since the “Live ‘25” tour began by releasing the first trailer for their new documentary directed by Steven Knight.
Don’t Look Back In Anger will open in cinemas and IMAX on September 11, before moving to Disney+ and Hulu later in 2026.
Gallagher has also hinted at a 2027 Oasis tour, telling a fan the band would “without a doubt, 100 percent” play live in Rome in 2027 and posting “Bring on 2027.”
The Manchester legends are rumored to be planning a major UK and European tour for 2027, potentially including a Manchester residency and a return to Knebworth.
Although nothing is confirmed, “a number of sources” close to Manchester City Football Club claim 12 shows are being considered for the Etihad Stadium in summer 2027, along with a long‑awaited Knebworth return.
Rumors of a Knebworth comeback have circulated since 2025, when a British peer mentioned Oasis would hold five back‑to‑back anniversary gigs there in 2026, a comment later retracted.
NME gave the first night of the “Live ’25” tour a five‑star review, noting, “Playing before a pop‑art‑meets‑psychedelia visual spectacular that never distracts but will look sick on a phone, they seem the quintessential stadium band playing the greatest hits of greatest hits.”
