On October 3, 2026, Seoul will host a major crypto industry gathering during the annual Korea Blockchain Week, drawing together leading figures from the global digital asset sector.

Key Highlights From the Seoul Event

A central feature of the event will be a keynote address titled “Special Announcement: What’s Coming Next for the XRP Ecosystem in Asia”, featuring Ripple ecosystem growth manager Tatsya Kohrogi and XRP Asia President Sabrina Tachdjian.

Following this, a panel discussion involving Ripple representatives and leading South Korean business executives will explore topics such as cross-border payments and tokenized deposits.

Additionally, Ripple President Monica Long is slated to deliver a keynote focused on institutional finance, potentially unveiling strategic moves by the company in the region. This comes at a time when XRP adoption in South Korea continues to surge—South Korean exchanges overtook global platforms in XRP transaction volume as early as May.

The “special announcement” theme of the event suggests potential momentum for XRP, especially if it includes new partnerships or use cases requiring XRP integration. Ripple’s infrastructure initiatives in South Korea have already gained traction, most notably through its collaboration with Kyobo Life Insurance to transition traditional T+2 bond settlements to near real-time on-chain processing via the XRP Ledger.

Several prominent South Korean financial institutions are also engaging directly with Ripple’s technology stack. Internet-focused lenders such as Kakao Bank and KBank, along with Woori Bank—the country’s largest banking group—are reportedly exploring Ripple’s XRP-powered settlement rails.

While retail interest in XRP remains strong—partly fueled by futures trading restrictions in the region—the regulatory landscape limits direct retail exposure. Currently, Ripple’s activities in South Korea are channeled through licensed local partners rather than operating under its own Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license.
