Tottenham Hotspur are pursuing a summer move for Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United.
The 26-year-old Italy international has impressed for Newcastle and would represent a significant signing for Spurs should the transfer materialize.
Sandro Tonali wants Spurs move
According to Gianluca Di Marzio (via TuttoAtalanta), Tonali has attracted several lucrative offers from elite clubs including Manchester City, yet he has pledged his commitment to Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi and intends to honor that promise.
He is doing everything he can to persuade Newcastle to accept Tottenham’s offer. While it remains uncertain whether the clubs will reach an agreement, his determination to join Spurs would be a major boost for the North London side.
Spurs need someone like Tonali
Spurs are in need of a quality defensive midfielder, and the 26-year-old could revitalize the squad. Besides his ball‑winning and positional discipline, he is comfortable on the ball, capable of recycling possession and dictating the tempo from a deep‑lying role.
Having outgrown his role at Newcastle, Tonali would thrive at a club with greater ambition where he can contend for silverware. Although Spurs finished 17th last season, they possess talented players and have appointed a top‑class manager in Roberto De Zerbi.
With strategic signings, Spurs could rebound strongly next season and challenge for trophies, making a return to Champions League contention a realistic goal.
Newcastle will aim to maximize the fee for Tonali’s exit, and how the situation unfolds remains uncertain.
