President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to cease attacks on each other’s energy facilities.
He added on Truth Social that, effective immediately, an energy ceasefire is in place between the two nations, urging both sides not to violate it.
Neither Kyiv nor Moscow has yet confirmed the arrangement, which comes after a recent surge in lethal strikes across the conflict.
Earlier that day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kyiv would halt strikes on Russian refineries if Moscow ceased its attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
Zelensky’s remarks occurred amid a disagreement between Trump and the Ukrainian leader, who had criticized a recent U.S. decision to temporarily lift sanctions on Russian diesel.
