Trump Declares US Victory Over Iran During 250th Anniversary Fourth of July Speech]
President Donald Trump declared that the United States has “fully defeated” Iran during his remarks at the Salute to America Celebration on the National Mall in Washington, marking the nation’s 250th anniversary.
Speaking at the bicentennial event, Trump asserted that the U.S. destroyed Iran’s entire naval force—comprising 159 vessels—in “a moment.”
“We rebuilt our military in my first term,” Trump stated. “We used it a little bit in my – I should say third time, but I won’t because of the controversy.”
The president emphasized America’s global leadership, telling the crowd, “For 250 years, the United States of America has been the hope, the promise, the light, and the glory among all of the nations of the world.” He added, “Tonight, our country is stronger, freer, richer, safer, and prouder than ever before.”
The outdoor celebration followed a storm-related delay earlier in the evening.
Trump’s claims come amid an ongoing conflict between the U.S. and Iran that began on February 28, 2026, according to reports. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy reportedly closed the Strait of Hormuz—critical to global oil shipments—shortly after hostilities escalated. U.S. military action reportedly destroyed an estimated 155 to 159 Iranian naval vessels through airstrikes and cruise missile attacks.
