Wheat markets are retreating on Thursday, with losses across all three major contracts as the complex steps back from previous gains. Chicago Soft Red Winter wheat futures are down 10 to 11 cents, Kansas City Hard Red Winter contracts have slipped 11 to 12 cents at midday, and Minneapolis Spring Wheat is lower by 5 to 6 cents.
The agricultural commodity markets will close out the week today, with trading and government offices closed on Friday for the Juneteenth holiday.
Export sales data released this morning showed 400,844 metric tons of 2026/27 marketing year wheat sales for the week ending June 11, falling within the expected range of 300,000 to 700,000 MT. This represents a 6.16% decrease compared to the same week last year. An additional 26,900 MT was reported for the 2027/28 marketing year.
Current price levels show July 2026 CBOT Wheat at $6.02½, down 10¼ cents; September 2026 CBOT Wheat at $6.10¾, down 10½ cents; July 2026 KCBT Wheat at $6.41½, down 11 cents; September 2026 KCBT Wheat at $6.48¼, down 11½ cents; July 2026 MIAX Wheat at $6.19½, down 6 cents; and September 2026 MIAX Wheat at $6.43¼, down 5 cents.
