Yorkshire have signed seamer James Taylor from Surrey on a three-year deal, bringing the 25-year-old to the White Rose for the 2027 season. Taylor, who spent seven years at Surrey, previously came through Derbyshire’s youth system.

In 19 first-class appearances for Surrey, Taylor claimed 41 wickets. He made his senior debut for Derbyshire against West Indies in 2017 before moving to Surrey in 2020, making his debut against Middlesex in the Bob Willis Trophy. Taylor helped Surrey win the County Championship in each of the last three seasons (2022-2024).

“At this stage of my career, I felt it was the right time to take on a new challenge,” Taylor said. “Yorkshire have shown a lot of belief in me, and I’m looking forward to repaying that faith by contributing as much as I can to the team. Hopefully I can help the club compete for trophies over the next few seasons and continue to develop my game.”

Surrey’s director of men’s cricket Alec Stewart acknowledged the move: “Despite numerous conversations over the last twelve months, which included a contract offer, we fully appreciate James Taylor’s decision to move to Yorkshire.”
