With the Lakers set to be sold to Joshua Kushner and Bob Iger, the family tradition appears to endure. ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported that the Lakers have brought Bob Iger’s son, Will, in as play‑by‑play announcer for the newly relocated G‑League team, the Coachella Valley Lakers. Iger will partner with three‑time NBA champion A.C. Green, the former Laker, who will provide color commentary.
Though his family ties opened doors for him, Will Iger brings proven credentials. Last season he was the play‑by‑play anchor for the San Antonio Spurs’ G‑League affiliate in Austin, broadcasting on Fanduel Sports Network Southwest. He also called select home games for San Antonio FC and appeared as a commentator on the Dallas Mavericks’ weekly studio show.
The Coachella Valley squad’s season kicks off tomorrow, with games televised on Spectrum SportsNet.
