Brighton have completed the acquisition of Canadian striker Promise David from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise on a season-long loan deal, featuring a binding option to secure his permanent transfer for an estimated £22 million.
The 25-year-old joins the club after establishing himself as a consistent goalscorer with the Belgian side, recording 82 appearances and 41 goals alongside nine assists since his arrival in 2024.
David’s journey began in his native Canada, followed by spells in Croatia and the United States. He then featured for two Maltese Premier League teams before moving to Estonian outfit Nomme Kalju and ultimately Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.
The forward was a key figure in Canada’s 2022 World Cup campaign, appearing as a substitute in four of the team’s five matches and finding the net in their 2-1 group stage defeat to Switzerland.
“We’ve tracked Promise for some time,” said Brighton’s sporting director Mike Cave, external. “He’s a natural striker with exceptional physical qualities and a proven ability to score goals consistently.”
“His experience at both international and European levels will be a significant asset this season. At 25, he’s entering his peak years, and we’re eager to nurture his development within our first-team environment.”
Brighton prepare for Thursday’s Europa Conference League play-off against Tromso (18:00 BST) before kicking off their Premier League campaign against Aston Villa this Sunday (14:00).
