When a former Cornell University student accused seven men of drugging and gang‑raping her at a fraternity party in 2024, she sued the university for allegedly failing to protect her. Comedy writer Toby Morton, known for his online parodies, bought the accused men’s domain names and launched TheCornell7.org to publish the woman’s name as Jane Doe, the lawsuit details, and Cornell’s response. Morton cited a quote from the complaint about “free pussy upstairs” as a catalyst for his actions.
Morton, a former staff writer and voice actor for *South Park*, has built a reputation for snapping up domain names to create satirical sites targeting politicians and public figures. His anti‑Elise Stefanik campaign spoof in 2022 earned him a large social‑media following, and he now maintains a substantial Instagram and Threads audience. He says the website aims to keep the case in the public eye and to hold the university accountable.
The allegations triggered renewed legal scrutiny, prompting prosecutors to reopen an investigation that had previously gone nowhere. Cornell’s student newspaper, *The Cornell Daily Sun*, published an editorial titled “Cornell Won’t, We Will,” naming the seven accused and criticizing the university’s handling of the case, including the reported offer of essay‑writing as a mitigation tool. Cornell responded that the essay requirement was not the sole consequence and has agreed to an external review of its sexual‑assault response protocols.
